Airport liquids in Europe 2026: 100 ml or 2 litres?
PreflightMate analysed a public verified subset of 34 airports. The report covers both the primary container limit and cases where the rule depends on a terminal, CT checkpoint, transfer or destination.
Key numbers
What does the dataset show?
The 100 ml rule is still the dominant baseline in the public PreflightMate index, but it no longer describes every airport. 9 of 34 verified airports publish a primary rule allowing containers up to 2 L.
The number alone is not enough. Within the 100 ml baseline group, 5 airports have terminal- or CT-checkpoint-specific exceptions. Some airports with a primary 2 L rule also keep exceptions for transfers or specific destinations.
Airports with a primary limit up to 2 L
| Airport | Primary limit | Scope / exception |
|---|---|---|
| Dublin (DUB) | 2 L | No additional scope note. |
| Rome (FCO) | 2 L | General 2 L rule; flights to the USA/Israel: 100 ml. |
| Gdańsk (GDN) | 2 L | No additional scope note. |
| Kraków (KRK) | 2 L | No additional scope note. |
| London (LGW) | 2 L | No additional scope note. |
| London (LHR) | 2 L | No additional scope note. |
| Poznań (POZ) | 2 L | No additional scope note. |
| Rzeszów (RZE) | 2 L | No additional scope note. |
| Zurich (ZRH) | 2 L | Departure at ZRH: 2 L; transfer screening: 100 ml. |
100 ml baseline with conditional 2 L access
These records remain in the 100 ml baseline group because passengers cannot always guarantee the relevant terminal or CT checkpoint.
| Airport | Baseline | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Frankfurt (FRA) | 100 ml | Stored baseline 100 ml; some CT checkpoints may allow up to 2 L. |
| Munich (MUC) | 100 ml | Conventional checkpoints: 100 ml; CT checkpoints may allow up to 2 L. |
| Milan (MXP) | 100 ml | Stored baseline 100 ml; Terminal 1 may allow up to 2 L; use 100 ml conservatively outside that scope. |
| Prague (PRG) | 100 ml | Terminal 1: 100 ml; Terminal 2 allows an additional container up to 2 L under the airport rule. |
| Warszawa (WAW) | 100 ml | Baseline 100 ml. Selected new CT scanners may allow containers up to 2 L, but passengers cannot choose the checkpoint and CT screening is not guaranteed. |
Poland is a useful transition case
The public subset contains 13 Polish airports. 4 currently have a primary 2 L rule, while some airports with a 100 ml baseline also have checkpoint-specific CT exceptions. This shows why scanner deployment and the passenger-facing rule should not be treated as the same thing.
Methodology
The report is calculated automatically from the public PreflightMate dataset “Europe airport liquids limits 2026”. Only records in the public verified subset are analysed. The stored primary limit is kept separate from scope notes covering terminals, CT checkpoints, transfers and destinations.
