Medical liquids can exceed the standard liquid limit

Medically necessary liquids, medicines and creams can be allowed above the standard 100 ml limit. Present them separately for screening.

Clear labelling helps at security

Keep medicines in original or clearly labelled packaging. For unusual medication, needles or larger quantities, supporting documentation can make security and border checks easier.

Destination-country rules are separate

Passing airport security does not automatically mean a medicine can legally be imported into every country. Controlled medicines require a separate destination check.

Medicine - separate security from destination law

Airport screening and whether a medicine is legal at your destination are separate questions.

  • Keep medicine clearly labelled and carry a travel-appropriate quantity.
  • Liquid medicines can qualify for exceptions to normal liquid limits, but may need to be declared at security.
  • For controlled medicines, check documentation required by the destination country.

Who prepares the answers

Content is prepared by the PreflightMate Research Desk from structured data and official sources. We do not present ourselves as an aviation authority or airline.

How the answer is produced

Automation helps format, compare and translate data. A rule marked verified must be linked to an official source; conflicts and exceptions remain visible.

What can override the rule

A specific airport, airline, route, destination-country rule or a security officer may apply a more restrictive requirement.
