Sharp items on planes - scissors, razors and pocket knives
Scissors, razors, blades and pocket knives in carry-on and checked baggage. Check airport security rules before flying.
Blade type and length matter
Not every item with an edge is treated the same. EU cabin rules prohibit knives and scissors above specified blade limits, and security can also reject an item it considers dangerous.
A razor is not always a loose blade
An electric shaver or common disposable razor is different from loose razor blades or a straight razor.
Checked baggage does not solve everything
Some sharp tools can travel in checked baggage if safely packed, but illegal weapons or dangerous goods remain prohibited.
Check in PreflightMate
Always check the official airport or airline source before travel. Rules can change and may be more restrictive.
